Course Description

The Foundation Certificate in Urban Design is studied on-location in Newcastle-upon-Tyne over three days. The course comprises a series of lectures, site visits and practical design exercises that will expand your knowledge of urban design theories and principles, and how to apply them in practice. It will help you grow your own design skills, develop your eye for design detail, and improve your ability to recognise the intrinsic worth of good design both in the field, and in plans and drawings.

Those who have successfully completed the course will receive a Foundation Certificate in Urban Design (CPD) affiliated with the Urban Design Group.

Who Delivers The Course?

The course is led by Urban Design Worka founder Rob Beardsworth. Rob is a Recognised Practitioner in Urban Design with the Urban Design Group, Design Champion for the RTPI, and alumni of the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, as well as the School of Architecture and Cities at the University of Westminster.

The course will be co-presented with leading urban design experts, architects and other specialists from professional practice and academia. Delegates participate in a range of lectures, site-based and practical learning.
